putting the code I got from unitymedia by post (16 digits) and looks like this asking for 17 I get this error:
Keine Aktivierung möglich CableMaster


any ideas?

2) Do you know if unitymedia is planning to have proper reverse DNSes for the IPs which are given via dhcp for the customers?
Some of the server are not accepting my connection (mail servers) complaining that host does not have revdns.

As far as I know all dynamic IP addresses you get by DHCP from Unitymedia are configured in reverse DNS. For example:

Problems with operating your own Email server ( I guess that is what you do, correct ?) could be caused by SPAM protections:
- the reverse DNS entry does not fit to your server name (in HELO message)
- your IP address is dynamic, many Email relays do not accept incoming mail from dynamic addresses

So, for outgoing Email it's always problematic to use your own server with a dynamic IP address. You should relay your Email from your server (or client) to the Unitymedia server or to another server where you have a login (with SMTP-AUTH).

Hi

I do not know much about Linux (or what OS you are using?), but this output is looking strange

You are using the local-loopback to resolve DNS and looking at the other output, I guess you are using a local DNS-server, right?

I think, that there is a problem. Rather more than with with the Unitymedia-Servers.

Try to configure your OS to receive DNS-servers, gateway and so on by DHCP. When this is working well, than go on to configure your server(s).

That is the output I get, when I try your IP
nslookup 81.210.238.20
Server: ns1.ish.de
Address: 80.69.98.110

Name: cable-238-20.iesy.net
Address: 81.210.238.20

I do not know, if there is a difference for iesy users, but I have to use 80.69.98.110 and/or 80.69.100.12 to resolve DNS-names.

yes you are right, I was testing on the server which is not located in the ieasy(unitymedia) network (Linux box) (it has DNS server running locally) and yes if I am asking unitymedia servers about my IP I get a proper answer:

Then it's definitely a misconfiguration of reverse lookup of the "old" IESY addresses in the DNS server of ISH/UM. They have only configured the corresponding in-addr.arpa zone locally. You should call the helpdesk.
